It's a bunch of different things. A show is often like a dance performance or comedy show, which can be highly enjoyable. Not more of a poor use of time than, say, scrolling on Reddit.The fact of the matter is that RuPaul's drag race is an insult to both women and trans people. It's not "exploring gender identity" or "crossing gender boundaries". It's men dressing up and acting like the most insulting caricatures of women possible. They're over-ticketing the room on the assumption that a lot of people won't show up, and to give them options for how to load the room: this is about making TV, so they want to ensure there's diversity in the audience.
